We’d really appreciate someone from the Eckerman area joining in, either from the “old days” or someone living there now.
One thing that really impressed me about that town, were the people associated with the Bear Butt Bar. Not only the people who worked there, but especially the people who frequented the place. I was staying there back around Easter and I’d stop in every night, just before 5pm, for dinner, conversation and watch the news. The place is a clearing house for them. While I was there, different people would stop in and drop off bits of information about the neighborhood. Who’s cabin had people in it, and the vehicle they drove, along with the usual “Who’s doing what with whom and how in heck do they figure on getting away with it”…stuff like that. I was the topic of conversation a couple times, I found out later. I was “The white pickup next door to the Ponderosa” and they were happy to meet me. Not long after I introduced myself, the waitress was on the phone passing the word.
Recently now, there’s been a wild fire roaring through that general area and it would be great to have a local source of information. There are eckerman people all over the country and it would be a great service to us all.
